Danny Murphy believes Mason Mount will 'have a choice' of Europe's biggest clubs should he leave Chelsea, amid reports Bayern Munich have joined Liverpool and Man United in the chase for the England midfielder

Danny Murphy has claimed Mason Mount would have the pick of Europe's top clubs should the England midfielder leave Chelsea this summer.

Mount's long-term future in west London has been called into question this year after lengthy contract negotiations between club and player.

Sportsmail revealed in November that Mount, who remains locked in contract talks at Chelsea, rejected a £200,000-a-week deal at Stamford Bridge.

The England international is reportedly seeking a salary similar to the £300,000-a-week wage held by England team-mate Raheem Sterling, following his summer move from Manchester City.

Both parties have yet to agree on a deal and, with Mount's current contract set to expire next summer, an exit is becoming increasingly likely.

Reports have claimed Bayern Munich are the latest club to have shown an interest in Mount, with his former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel having taken charge of the reigning Bundesliga champions last week.

Speaking on talkSPORT's White & Jordan show, Murphy claimed there would be takers for Mount should he leave the Blues.

'I think he [Tuchel] is obviously an admirer,' Murphy said. 'With Mason Mount there are takers, that’s for sure.

'You are talking about a terrific player, I am a big fan of Mason Mount.

'The criticism this season has been fine because he has had a poor time, as has the team. But he has been at a huge club for four seasons and three of them he has been excellent.'

Liverpool have expressed an interest in Mount with the club eager to rebuild Jurgen Klopp's midfield this summer.

Manchester United are also believed to be keen on the Chelsea star, while Newcastle are expected to have an interest.

Murphy suggested Manchester City were one of only few clubs in Europe where Mount would not yet be able to command a place in the starting line-up.

The pundit claimed it was no surprise that Mount was the subject of interest amid uncertainty over his Chelsea future.

'The fact is he is going to have a choice, because nearly all the big clubs are in for him,' Murphy said.

'They are in for him because they can see what a talent he is, he has just had a little bad spell.

Mount is also reportedly wanted by both Liverpool and Manchester United this summer

Murphy suggested Mount would get into both Liverpool and Manchester United's teams

'From a football perspective I think he gets in Liverpool’s team, Man United’s team and at a push he could get really good game time in Arsenal’s team.'

The former Liverpool midfielder suggested Mount's focus would be on ensuring game-time to remain involved in Gareth Southgate's England squad.

Mount has faced increased competition for places at Chelsea with the club having spent £500m on new additions over the past two transfer windows.

Chelsea's reported loss of £121m last campaign - which followed a loss of £153.4m the season before - will likely force chairman Todd Boehly to sell players in a bid to keep in line with Financial Fair Play regulations.
